Our business has an extremely exciting growth strategy in place over the next few years, and one that wouldn’t be anywhere near achievable without a head office that would accommodate that strategy from both a spatial, functional and aesthetic perspective.
Therefore, when it came to identifying a firm to oversee both the interior design and the entire office fit out, we placed a huge amount of importance on it, and were extremely selective throughout the procurement process. We spoke to a number of firms and right from the very first meeting, the solution offered by Rathbourne provided a sense of confidence and excitement that wasn’t available elsewhere.
From a design perspective, the concepts and final plan was exceptional. Our objective was to create an environment that would attract employees to want to work for us over and above our competition and one that would offer our existing team an exciting and enjoyable place to operate within in order to enhance performance. These expectations have been far exceeded and we’re already realising the benefits in terms of improved sales performance and the acquisition of new employees who are choosing to work with us in preference to other firms.

Having set our business up five years ago, jumping from office to office as we grew, we decided it was time to properly stamp our mark and let the local business community (and our staff) know that we have arrived and are well and truly here to stay. We felt that having ‘the best office in town’ would be a key contributor to this.
After securing the right property we undertook a tender process for its renovation and eventually engaged Rathbourne to take on this exciting project, which would mark the next chapter of our business. Our demands were challenging. On the one hand we wanted to energise our staff and visitors with something different, that ‘wow factor’, but as a professional services firm, it was also import that our culture of integrity and professionalism wasn’t lost. Add to that the fact that we were asking for a modern, open plan feel but without losing the traditional heritage of this listed building, this was no straight forward brief!
Having known James from previous projects I had no doubt that the quality and punctuality of the job would be spot on, that’s a given. However, what impressed me most was how well he and the team trod the difficult path of taking on board our ideas whilst applying their vision and experience to have a significant input of their own.
Although this project was clearly their area of expertise, we know our business and the culture we are trying to instill, so it was vital that they listened and understood what we were trying to achieve. There were times when we weren’t totally comfortable with an aspect of the project and James knew exactly when to thrash something out or when to say “you’re just going to have to trust me with this”. They struck that balance perfectly and the end product was phenomenal.
Seeing the array of huge smiles and dropped jaws on the the day we unveiled it to our staff is something I will never forget. Just as importantly we get comments from virtually every visitor who steps through the door. I think it’s fair to say that Rathbourne absolutely nailed it.

I have built 4 houses with Rathbourne over the past 24 months. 1 for my personal residence and 3 as commercial ventures. All of the projects had differing challenges along the way but what was consistant was the manner in which these challenges were dealt with and the projects were constantly driven foward in an efficient and pactical manner by Rathbourne.
